I have freedom of choice as well. I can choose to use USD, or I can store value in any number of different currencies/assets/commodities.

A currency is only worth what other people perceive it to be worth in exchange for hard assets and services.

That's all it is.. a medium of exchange and temporary storehouse of value.

And ALL of them get diluted eventually, whether due to scarcity of other assets, or over-production/printing that exceeds demand.
