Now that Windows 7 Service Pack 1 is out, let's look at how to free up some disk space after installing SP1.

In a Command window with Administrator privileges, enter this. . .

DISM /online /cleanup-image /spsuperseded

On my system, it took a few minutes to delete the (hundreds!) redundant files.

CAUTION: Once this command is executed, one cannot remove SP1!
