IMO all of those students will eventually learn English. For instance the problem with the children of Hispanic parents is not that they don't learn English (which they all eventually do). The problem is that they don't learn or maintain their Spanish.

I am not sure what you are trying to say, but learning Spanish is an intellectually demanding process at least as much so as learning English. I believe they have done studies where bilingual patients contract Alzheimer's less frequently than those limited to a single language.

I was born to English speaking parents but I picked up Spanish with a lot of work over a lot of years. Definitely a worthwhile experience in many ways. My question is always why isn't everybody in this country bilingual. I did it, why can't you?
