Lehman Brothers said on Wednesday it started coverage on shares of AFFYMETRIX INC. with an outperform rating. The company is a spinoff of Affymax, a drug discovery company that was founded by Alex Zaffaroni, who founded several other companies. Analyst Matthew Murray said company had advanced manufacturing technology. Also it has entered into 17 corporate collaborations with a variety of companies. Murray also set a $53 per share 12-month price target. (Reuters 12:37 PM ET 11/19/97)
