What, exactly, are you referring to? Neither machine can do much of anything right out of the box.

Although both have a series of near useless, rinky dink programs included with the basic distribution.

Anything the Mac can do that Windows can't, can probably be done better with something you download from google (e.g., Picasa). Or even from Apple itself (iTunes).

So, I really don't see what you're basing this statement on. They're both pretty much empty shells "right out of the box".

Like what? Look pretty? Macs make great paperweights. Swear the one outside my office looks totally pretty. Been turned on maybe twice in the past year. But it is pretty as all hell. All the real business is done on PCs. Macs are so lame nobody even bothers to waste their time writing viruses for them. Or decent games.

Is that what you mean by an ecosystem?
