Mac users have to buy Microsoft Office lest they be cut off from the rest of the world.

Um, nope. One free Microsoft Office compatible download:

openoffice.megasoftpro.com

Two free Microsoft Office compatible downloads:

neooffice.org

Bet there is a free download number three that is Microsoft Office compatible but the above two are plenty good, so why bother.

Personally, I prefer Open Office. Much less clunky than the original and Omni. you milage will vary. (g)

But you really should try a Mac before driving your mouth off the cliff like that. Try your local Apple store. Even homeless folks use their display computers for free, on a regular basis, I'm told. I'm sure nobody will mind if you join them. (g)
