Elmo, Middle Class is not artificial it is real, it is also relative to your specific culture and is fluid. As an example, you Elmo, are working class by choice although when home in Brazil I suspect you are Middle Class as a home owner and affluent by Brazilian standards. America did not invent the Middle Class, the Europeans did Centuries ago...however America gave it a whole new meaning attributible to Standard of Living thru high wages and low unemployment. Millions of Americans have fallen from these Middle Class perches in recent years due to the Great Unraveling that you have spoken of..... IMO,,,,America and its population is in a state of Cultural & Class Identity confusion.... We are waiting for the "other shoe" to drop while some think the recovery has actually begun (the Dreamers).... IMO,,,,America will never return to the Standard of Living and status of the 1950's, 60's, 70's and 1980's...its over and Major and Massive readjustment is required.... Chas
