BuyS,
I don't know what their production capacity is, but in the CC, they said that they had resolved both their manufacturing problems and their component problems. When this is coupled with their saying that they projected 100% growth for the balance of this fiscal year and 50-60% growth for next year, one would assume that their capacity is at least that much.

I spoke with a DLT reseller, one who also sells Breece Hill libraries. I asked him about all sorts of things, like did they see AIT as a threat in the next year, availability of the drives & libraries, when did he see any competitive threat to DLT, and where would it come from, and did he see any slowdown in growth. He said all of the right things, and referred to conference call about the 100 gig drive coming in CY1 99. He also said that he didn't know of Sony or anyone else being any closer to a 100 gig product before then; if there was, then his company would sell them if the speed and durability was comparable to DLT. He also said that durability was a big issue with his customers, and that 8 mm tape couldn't cut it with anyone with large backup needs of mission critical applications.

DLT GROWTH & PROJECTIONS 1998
GROWTH GROWTH
FIS 97 FIS98 SEQUN YR/YR
JUNE 126 265 9% 110%
SEPT 150 339 28% 126%
DEC 200 390E 15% 95%
MARCH 243 450E 15% 85%
TOTAL 719 1444E 101%

With respect to capacity, I believe it is safe to assume that Quantum will be be to accomodate the slower growth rates in comparison with past growth.
