Nah, it's not an addiction, it's our god given right to use as much as we want and much more since he put an unlimited supply on this planet for our use...right??? Isn't that about what Cheney said?

Definitions of addiction and dependency according to Webster's: Addiction: persistent compulsive use of a substance known by the user to be harmful Dependence[y]: a drug addiction Just like many seniors are dependent on Social Security. You wouldn't call them "addicted to SS," would you? Just like we depend on police for law enforcement. You wouldn't call America "addicted to police protection," would you? Addiction implies that whatever we're dependent on is killing us. Yet oil is not a toxin to society. Oil is instead a wonderful yet precious energy source that should be used wisely. It fuels our economy and it fuels our lifestyles. It is a toxin. Oil kills both vegetation, animals and humans. Its not wonderful but it is better than coal. In the meantime, let's research alternative energy. Something that can replace oil. Unfortunately it's not going to be solar or wind. Nuclear energy would be a start, and eventually we can move to fusion energy. But that's many decades away. Until then, let's treat oil like a valuable resource, not a narcotic. Its a narcotic when people can't live without it.
