Yes, generally speaking but Numbers is a hog on my MBP too.
It didn't surprise me that it was slow on the iPad. I'd say the RAM being only 256MB is more the culprit but the CPU/GPU are also a little lacking. We'll see how well Numbers runs on the next model. As a traveling computer, I'd rather use an iPad than carry my MBP.
