COMDEX NEWS: Brocade Demos with DEC and SUN

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 13, 1997--Brocade Communications Systems Inc. Thursday announced that its Fibre Channel gigabit switch, the SilkWorm, will be highlighted in technology demonstrations by industry storage giants Digital Equipment Corp. and Sun Microsystems at Comdex.

At the show, Sun will demonstrate, for the first time, its connection to a Fibre Channel switch with Arbitrated Loop capabilities.

Sun's new Enterprise Network Array A5000, the industry's only second-generation Fibre Channel array, will be connected to a Brocade SilkWorm switch through the SilkWorm's FL-Port, which provides connectivity to Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop devices.

In addition, Digital will be re-creating a demonstration of its Alpha servers and StorageWorks storage solutions with a Brocade SilkWorm, first shown at N+I in October. Brocade and Digital recently announced a technology agreement to integrate Brocade's SilkWorm with Digital's StorageWorks storage solutions.

Brocade's solution will provide Digital's customers with the high-performance switching technology necessary to deploy distributed storage networks.

Both demonstrations can be seen at Comdex/Fall, Nov. 17-21 in the Fibre Channel Loop Community's (FCLC) room, No. N250 in the Las Vegas Convention Center.
