Often find dollar stores have good cables for $1. Anytime I see a dollar store I haven't visited, I check it out - never know what you will find.

I bot a USB to mini-USB (4p) adapter and it worked fine. Perfectly good S-Video cable (good picture). When you have kids they are good places too - like buying a ruler - I scored 4 plastic rulers for a buck - full size. And we know how often they break or become lost.

I basically feel - when you go to a WorstBuy or HomeDepot to buy cables or connectors etc - the quality of some of that gear is no better. So what that it says 'RCA' - probably from the same plant in China that makes Omega. All junk - but HD wants $5.99 v. $1.00.

And at $1.00 - if it ends up being crap - who cares.

Sounds like a neat store though. We had a store in Toronto that sold uncommon things but went belly up. Round drive cables, high-end (good bearings) fans, neon light gear, really hard to get cases etc.

Looks like I may be doing a day trip to Boston in a few weeks - who knows ...
