Sorry. I thought I had already answered that.

Again: I oppose armies and war, but support police and law enforcement.

This simple rule of action applies equally to individuals, groups, and nations.

Pacifists frequently make the mistake of imagining a society that only works if people act like angels. You and I agree that people are far from perfect. Therefore, law enforcement requires police (and judges and jails).

It would be hypocritical of me, to support police using force, but be unwilling to get my own hands dirty. In most cases, stopping crime and arresting criminals can be left to the professionals. However, there will be times when order breaks down, and a policeman isn't around when you need him. In that situation, any citizen can intervene, using all methods necessary, to enforce the law.

As an example: I enthusiastically supported my teenage daughter, in learning karate. I want her to feel safe, anywhere and anytime, and I know that one in 6 American women have been the target of sexual assault.

Another example: In the wild celebrations in Egypt, when Mubarak resigned, an American news reporter was gang-raped by some Egyptian men. Things like this happen in every society, when order disintegrates. Men aged 15-25 act like animals when given the opportunity to act without consequences. If I had been standing beside her when she was attacked, I would have done anything I could to stop it, even at the cost of my own life.

Does that answer your question?
