Good idea about how to save Pop3.

I also have a monthly backup I keep outside my house in case of a fire. Then I have a script that runs hourly to backup my files to a flash drive that I put in my pocket when I leave the house in case my computers are stolen....I have my latest stuff with me.

The problem I've had with using automatic programs of others is sometimes things go wrong and I lose everything...

For example, I was keeping my ripped CDs on an external drive and somehow that file got overwritten by an empty backup when I switched to a new computer... Somehow I lost them and had to rerip... Now what I want to do is burn some files onto a DVD but I'm not sure what program is best to do this with for a large directory that will take multiple DVDs.

I think a REALLY BIG HD that is big enough for many months of backups is probably the easiest so I can do a 1TB system image and have many months of my key files that only take 20GB or so per backup.

A network attached storage device has appeal too since I can use it on many devices...

People who don't backup probably don't have their livelihood depending on their computer.
