My "bedside stereo's" CD transport has packed it in. Any idea how to correctly dispose of a 30-pound audio dinosaur? It's a Mark somebody No. 39 that I have been using as a transport into a Grace Model 901 headphone amp.

I am also interested in getting a replacement CD transport. Not sure what to get that is high on the value curve, especially pre-owned from Audiogon.

Have you listened much to SACD or high-resolution DVD-Audio?

We bought our cd player in 2001. I forget the problem but it only plays the regular cd component. Which, last time I tried it, a couple of years ago, sounded a little shrill in our system.

What kind of speakers do you have?

French. Triangle Celius speakers we bought back, again, in 2001. Great sound but a bit harsh in the upper ranges. It's time to look at new speakers so we listened to the new Wilson Sophia 3s last Saturday during the computer sound demonstrations.
