Around 2001, Silicon Valley had a tech bust which resulted in many layoffs. Nothing to do with Unions....

Try as I might, I simply can not understand why so many people depend on unions to work. Their dues are high, and their value is miniscule. I respect the local shoe shine guy in the Department stores....and truly hope they are making a good living from their own labor. The unions offer next to nothing as far as a pension is concerned....and yet they collect massive money from the workers.

Maybe it is a throwback or hangover to the days of serfdom and the lords and ladies....
