Just got on SI today, and wanted to thank you guys (and gals) for all the great info posted. i'm an nyu student who threw about 30 grand (my last year's tuition) into quantum at 36. saw it go up to 43, and then ... well you know. anyway, thanks Dale, Tech, Emile, Tom and others for keeping my hope alive, and my father from potentially using something much worse than tech's contraption on me.

"Margin can also be risky". I take it you mean that by covered selling calls you are tying up your positions, and if you are on margin you have some jeopardy. That can be true if you are heavily extended on margin. However, if the market turns strongly against your stock you can just sell it, leaving an uncovered call position.
