Do not let AT&T or Verizon or any phone company anywhere near your day-to-day financial transaction business!

You've been warned.

What about Apple and Google (or, say, Motorola)?

Frankly not happy with Visa/Mastercard/AMEX scalping 2%-3% of every credit card purchase... and the subsequent increased consumer prices.

iPhone Users Are About to Be Screwed Over

Interesting premise. Which OS has seeded back some control to telcoms after iPhone was able to break the stranglehold through AT&T's concessions to acquire exclusive rights to the iPhone? Answer Android OEM. Which company was able to hold control of their UI on Verizon after Android OEMs had allowed Verizon to intrude on their platform UI? Answer Apple.

Fact is everyone will be going after the revenue afforded by NFC payments. Telcoms are trying to do this through ISIS. Apple will be the last, over their dead bodies to capitulate. Android OEMs will likely be the first to capitulate to curry favor with the telcoms to gain product placement. Android/Google has a history of capitulating principle for competitive advantage. See Google original stance on proprietary Flash and on net neutrality.
