The Foundation for the Study of Cycles, after blowing out their call last year for a big bear move in stocks, went back to the drawing boards and claims to have discovered what causes cycles:

I'll see about that, but they are now suggesting that the stock market may be in a mega-bull cycle which isn't due to top until 2013. Shades of the last revolution of the 120-year cycle? It certainly sounds like it, doesn't it? In that previous cycle bottom, the government bought stocks to levitate the economy, just as they are doing now. And, of course, it only delayed the inevitable - and allowed the very rich to sell their shares to the greatest fools at prices very near, or at, the highs.
