I manage to free myself and shoot one culprit as they leave...

I have used a similar analogy for the defense of "Harsh Interrogation" (some call torture).

Imagine a family member is kidnapped during that home invasion, but you manage to capture one of the asailants, as his buddies drive off..

Would you wait for the police?..

Or would you proceed to "harshly interrogate" your captive in order to find out where they are taking your loved one?

I know what I would do.. Which is why I have no problem with using harsh interrogation against those individuals who have information that might save innocent lives, or the lives of our soldiers.
