And the ones that don't break in your home will go to the landfill.

Assuming retros like you ignore proper disposal instructions, as I am sure will be the case, that still represents a lesser environmental hazard than that presented by the the level of mercury spewed by power plants producing the additional 2/3rds of power used by incandescent bulbs.

Do you have any of the long tube fluorescents in your home or office??? In the meantime, guns probably kill 100,000 times more people than mercury ever will...and also hospital mistakes.
