No impact on Cube. Intel's chip can already do this. Software DVD seems to be chosen by some PC OEMs today, because DVD standards are not stable. New revisions, or up-dates could come out. If an OEM is using software + acceleration, they can up-date the software and keep their customers compatible for the next few months. When larger volumes have shipped, all new players/DVD-PCs will need to stick to the standard for backward compatability. That will eliminate this argument.

This does not fix the Divx problem, however.

Plus and minus:
Embed the mpeg2 core into the P4?
Better yet ...how about DVx embeded into a P5?
....oh that can't happen InnovoCON bought the rights to that in the breakup/firesale. <guh>
