Raytheon Automated Systems a potential TPRO Competitor or Partner?

Raytheon Automated Systems Expands Services With Year 2000
Compliance Consulting For Manufacturing

Business Wire - November 13, 1997 11:34

LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 13, 1997--Raytheon Engineers
& Constructors has announced that its Automated Systems business unit has expanded its services to include Year 2000 Compliance consulting for the manufacturing industry. Year 2000 Compliance is a complex program to correct the simple situation when computers cannot recognize the millennium change. Programs coded with two-digit
calculations based on 20th century numerics may become meaningless when the date changes to a year ending in "00." "All manufacturers are facing this problem," said Tom Bruhn, manager, business development for Raytheon Automated Systems. "If the computer hasn't been programmed to recognize the new year that ends in "00," it could
mean disaster for the business."

"A major engineering and construction firm providing this critical service is out of the ordinary," said Bob Gellings, operations manager, Raytheon Automated Systems. "But we have extensive experience, as part of our broader engineering and construction
work, with the computer systems that drive manufacturing operations in a wide variety of industries. We're currently working with several Fortune 100 companies."

Raytheon Automated Systems is recognized as a leading production management consulting and systems integration organization. The unit supports manufacturing-oriented industries with information technology, process control, and operations consulting and performs work for industries that range from foods to automobiles -- in the United States and internationally. "We've been a manufacturing
systems integrator since 1982," said Gellings. "Raytheon Automated Systems has its roots in process engineering and control, allowing the company perspective to understand the issues required for effective planning for Year 2000 Compliance."

Raytheon Automated Systems is based in Birmingham, Ala., and offers extended expertise from offices in Cambridge, Mass.; Chicago; Denver; Houston; Philadelphia; Pittsburgh; and London. Raytheon Engineers & Constructors is a major full-service engineering and construction firm serving clients worldwide. It is one of the business segments of Raytheon Company, a $14 billion international high technology company
that also operates in the commercial and defense electronics and aircraft industries. Raytheon celebrates its 75th anniversary this year.
