President Stoops To New Low With Calderon

Following a meeting with Mexican President Felipe Calderon Thursday, Barrack Obama rejected the outcry to arm U.S. agents in Mexico in the wake of the murder of ICE agent Jaime Zapata last month. In the aftermath of the shooting of two unarmed U.S. agents, pressure has mounted on Obama to press Calderon to allow American law enforcement officers to carry guns for self-defensive purposes.
If Obama is nothing else, he is predictable. Not only does it appear that the president had no intention of demanding that U.S. agents who risk their lives in Mexico’s drug war carry weapons, his post-meeting comments were even more pathetic than those he made during Calderon’s visit to the White House in 2010.
“There are laws in place in Mexico that say that our agents should not be armed,” Obama said,
describing the U.S. role south of the border as an “advisory” one. “We do not carry out law enforcement activities inside of Mexico.”
There are “laws” in place in Mexico Mr. President? How were you able to keep a straight face when you said that? How are those laws workin’ for ya? You might want to check with Jaime Zapata’s family and find out how those laws worked out for them. While you’re at it, check in with the Mexican Drug Cartels and ask which of Mexico’s laws they’re following.
Calderon added that Mexican officials are “deeply analyzing alternatives.” Really? Analyze away Felipe. While thousands of Mexicans die violent deaths and brave unarmed Americans leave behind widows and fatherless children, just keep on “enforcing” those Mexican laws and deeply analyzing alternatives. Let us know what you come up with.
Oh…and Felipe? I can hardly blame you for having your way with our timid president again. I’d do the same if I were you in light of your visit to Washington last year. As the two of you stood on the White House lawn bashing Arizona, you had to be silently laughing to yourself as the President of the United States said, “Arizona’s law, which takes effect in July, will make it a crime under state law to be in the U.S. illegally.” (I know Felipe, it cracks me up too.)
One more thing President Calderon; you better “get while the getting’s good,” because come January of 2013, there will be a new sheriff in town. Those days of having a U.S. president who will turn his back on the American people with you at his side will be over.

Question for Obama:

Mr. President, would you be willing to visit Mexico City with unarmed Secret Service agents and no Mexican guards?
