Dear Richard : Continuing with our discussion of should God give you wealth . The quotation of "fools rush in where angels dare to tread", comes to mind. King David, a very wealthy man , by any comparison, warns of the dangers of wealth. PSAL 49:2 King David espouses the need for all classes of people for redemption. 49: 4 "incline mine ear to a parable"---interesting to note the varied discussions on this thread of parables, the unjust steward and parable of talents to mention two. 49: 5 , 6 "Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about ?" They that trust in their wealth ?and boast of themselves in multitudes of riches ? NOT. I feel there is a special message here to someone who has been hob-knobbing with the rich and famous... 49:18 The writer brings out that two things will the men of this world do , satisfy themselves and praise others who are prosperous-- I ask everyone, myself included, do you want to prosper to gain the praise of other men. , if so you are certainly not in the will of God, please examine your heart. Getting back to the question should God give you wealth.DEUT 8:18 But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish His covenent which he sware unto thy fathers as it is this day." Should God give you wealth ? No.but he can give you the power to get it ? Notice I said CAN . Interesting that many of God's promises are open ended or conditional ---please read many of the recent posts on a covenant relationship or contractual relationship with the Lord. Why ? To establish His covenant with you. To drive you away from Him. No. For your glory. No. To subdue others. No. So the question of wealth for a Christian is really a serious question. My way of thinking, be blessed to the extent that God would bless you, any extra endeavor will surely be a foolish and futile effort..........In Christ..............gregor
