<$4 - $5 gasoline is going to kill the tourist industry in Florida>

Alaska too. Cruise vacations are classic consumer discretionary. I remember driving the AlCan highway, summer of 2008. Lots fewer RVs than normal. Many motels, RV parks, gas stations closed down. I don't mean for the season; they looked abandoned. I doubt they ever open up again. If we didn't have oil, Alaska would be in worse shape than California or Florida. Housing prices haven't gone down. We can continue to do our reverse income tax (the PFD)......at least until the oil runs out.

CC - My daughter recently completed an intern job at Disney World. She was amazed at how families fork over serious money without a thought. She worked the Fort Wildneress resort. Cabins were $300 a night. RV parking w/hook-ups, etc., was up to a hundred a night.

As you say, a one day SINGLE park pass is $85, a multi-park pass is closer to $135.

The food and drinks are just stupid money.

However, the crowds remain endless. Mom and Dad are feeding the rug rat's every whim with goodies and "stuff".

It reminds me of when I would go to southern California, noticing the prices of homes, and wonder how do so many people make SO much money? Crazy!

What recession?

big
