Howard,
For some reason I got a laugh out of your last update. CPQ not oversold after a 22 point decline in a matter of weeks but overbought on the basis of a 5 minute stochastic chart!! What can I say!

CPQ is one of the special stocks that go up or down with the DOW. There is nothing wrong with CPQ if it goes down, The problem will be with the DOW. This is the season for the DOW to be correcting, historically, and until Turkey day we could have very violent swings in the DOW. The DOW is very favorable in Dec & Jan every year, unless the Fed raises interest rates. We must remember that this is the #1 Computer maker in the world with record earnings and if you must short a stock, why not short one with dissapointing earnings?

Any stock that goes up 4 1/4 in one day will appear overbought using stochastic, but it can become even more overbought. Charting is a useful tool to see where a stock has been, unfortunately it cannot tell you where it is going. Prices are ultimately driven by earnings, therefore, why would you want to short CPQ, a stock with record earnings?
