Gas taxes are based on per gallon - not the price of fuel itself. If anything as gas prices rise consumers attempt to use less and tax revenues decrease.

I don't know? It is an interesting question and one I thought of when I read that truckers are looking at $1000 to fill their rigs up. The state has to benefit from this somehow. The consumer will be the loser.
