Totally true. However, Simpson Boles is an example of where a comprehensive plan is put in place - gasoline taxes are to me more attractive than an income tax. Further, I think a national sales tax is better than more income tax. Too many people do not pay tax. A sales tax is one way to get revenue from everyone.

Any "grand compromise" will require getting the pigs from the trough as part of the deal.

Well said. And as we tinker on with the flavour of the day Oil trades higher and surprisingly so too most indexes as I type. Interesting times ahead,imo.
