Ted, HSR makes more sense in the East Coast than the West Coast. Between LA and SF there is a huge low-density population area that isn't going to get any better anytime soon, at least not with the current Sacramento politicians.

I'd like to verify your claim that 99% of HSR lines throughout the world are "profitable." Doesn't sound like it could be true unless you count government subsidies as "profit."
