Up/Down,

That's why selling 23% of the concession to Dana for $19 million (Jan 2010) and Repsol walking away from a partnership last month (Jan 2011) is so telling.

Everyone knows the "geophysical confirmation of the most significant plays types along the West African Transform Margin play where as many as 40 discoveries have been made in the last few years."

But HDY either sells cheap to Dana or can't entice a partner to stay (Repsol). Those are facts.

Surprised HDY is holding $6 at the moment.

  • Hyperdynamics Corporation (HDY; $0.69; Speculative Buy; $1.70 PT) Initiating coverage with a Speculative Buy rating and $1.70 PT
    • A high-risk/high-potential-reward play on Guinea, an untried deepwater West Africa province.
    • Concentrated acreage position on trend with some major discoveries.
    • After a failed well earlier this year, HDY is now concentrating on securing a JV partner to drill up a series of prospects and leads on its 6.2MM acre block offshore Guinea – just up the coast from recent deepwater Cretaceous discoveries in Ghana, Sierra Leone and Cote d'Ivoire.
