First, Surplus Direct has a Packard Bell P-200 MMX system with a 3.2 gig hard drive, 32 Mb of memory, 33.6 modem, sound, and all of the ususal items for $899. It's a factory refurb, but an excellent buy if you are looking for a P-5MMX. WWW.SURPLUSDIRECT.COM. The bad news: it's not publicly available, and it's only for 4 days. To be able to get it you have to be "registered" for their "E-Mail Specials". Register quick, you might be able to get it before it expires.

As to component price differences, a P-200MMX is probably about $170, while a PII/233 is about $400. Beyond that, however, the PII motherboard is also going to be more expensive than a P-5 motherboard. The 440LX chipset with AGP is much more sophisticated (and expensive) than a 430VX chipset.
