He was able to draw a great picture of the Scotty Dog that looked as just like the match pack cover?

You have to consider that before his dementia he might have had a good brain. I can't say with authority what happened to Kenneth, but many like him experimented with mind altering drugs in the 60s and it had very negative effects on the brain.
