The short position must be to offset margin long silver ETFs. When the selling comes into the ETFs, silver will go straight down as JP Morgan stands aside before it starts covering.

Re silver : the notion that Jamie Dimon is tolerating any kind of high risk position in silver (or anything else) is utterly preposterous. (disclosure: I'm long AGQ, another of those dangerous one-day-only asymtotically inevitively going to zero leveraged ETFs) I don't mind buying silver but I don't buy silly rumors. And what's silver doing on this board anyway?
