You're probably right. The company name was Sundisk before it got changed.

Yes, there is the play on words and of course the flash disks are made from sand (silicon) ie are sand disks. Incidentally the company was originally called Sundisk until a certain larger company apparently complained about the name similarity.

i found a three years old brochure at home, explaining *SUN*disk flash cards.
So they changed their name sometime ago..

i believe the correct french spelling for without is "sans"
spanish "sin"
italian "senza"
etc...
