I live in Madison so I can tell you firsthand that its been intense. There's a little wiggle room on both sides that, if used, will make the transition a lot less unruly. The thing I find interesting/objectionable is that IF you go to work for the state (which is fine - I know many good people who work at the state level) you HAVE to join the union and pay union dues. I don't think you should HAVE to join and pay union dues. Teachers pay a little over $100 per mo (roughly...it's actually higher than that).
