DSC says Next Level pays $140 mln judgment
DALLAS, Nov 7 (Reuters) - DSC Communications Corp said Friday Next Level Communications and its two founders have paid a $140.69 million judgment entered by a federal court judge.

DSC said the final judgment was entered by Judge Paul Brown in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas after a lengthy appeals process. It said included were damages for theft of trade secrets, punitive damages, court costs and interest from July 3.

DSC said Next Level Communications, a wholly owned subsidiary of NextLevel Systems (NLV), was founded by former DSC employees Thomas Eames and Peter Keeler while the two still worked for DSC and in order to compete against DSC. DSC Communications is a global provider of advanced telecommunications products, including digital switching, transmission, access and network management systems.
