Maxwell - Re: "Does anyone here know who is providing the dye wafers? "

AMD makes their own wafers - K6 wafers are made at the Fab 25 in Austin, Texas and some are perhaps made at the SubMicron Development Center in Sunnyvale, CA.

As in the case of most semiconductor companies, AMD has separate organizations for IC design, process technology development and wafer fabrication.

Vin Dham headed up the K6 IC design effort, and NOT the wafer fab part of the business.

He might have had some input into the fab process capability, but it was under the direction of others to actually develop this technology and manufacture it.
