[GTE Reluctance]

Hi Bruce,

True, GTE does appear a might timid. I suppose, initially DSL must attempt to make a name for it's self. Here in PacTel land I havn't found a telephone employee who has heard of DSL--yet. The Telcos want the public to roar their approval and stomp their feet and clamor and then the goods will be delivered. Alcatel is sending out the pom-pom girls. After they whip the crowd up they'll be waiting in line for DSL. It'll be like communist Russia. Pushin and shoving for a line. Da, you betcha!
However,I agree with you Bruce,a press release would be welcome
about now. As for earnings, I have a feelilng we may get a hint at what Amati's division will be doing in the future, i.e. reducing losses.

Regards

Steve
