Maybe - but I would prefer the market dictate the direction as opposed to liberals wanting to spend vast sums to feel like they have accomplished something.

I could see high speed rail for cargo being a better value since cargo pays for the system today and with highways in need of repair and fuel prices rising - trains may still be a better idea.

The idea that people will suddenly flock to trains is wishful thinking.
