I suspect I'm not as savvy as most who post here regarding technical analysis or the competitive environment that SUNW faces, or blah, blah, blah....I'm just a stockholder who has been reviewing the recent weeks and scratching his head.

At split-adjusted numbers, I bought at $26.50, $30, and very recently (when I KNEW it couldn't go any lower) at $36.25. Ahem. So, I'm not doing much better than breaking even right now over the long term.

Even so, of the stocks in my portfolio that I am worried about, SUNW ain't one of them. Sure, rather than buy right after the big correction, I wish I'd waited until, say, yesterday. But this stock will come back to $50 with time, don't we all know that? I remember the Business Week article on McNealy when he predicted $100 by the end of 1996 ($50 post split), and so, he was just six months off. SUNW will see $50 again by January or February.

Won't it?

- Don

Paul,

I have used both SUN Sparc and PC for several years. The
biggest difference is Unix has the virtual desktops, but PC does
NOT. I can run many programs simultaneously on many Unix
machines available on the network, even remotely, including
powerful servers. But I can only use a SINGLE PC to run my
applications in my office.

<< i have never even looked for the ctrl-alt-delete buttons.>>
Don't even bother, because they don't work like on a PC. If you do get hung on your Sun Sparc ( I admit it happens occasionally ), look for STOP ( usually top left ) and "a". If you press them together, you should go to an OK prompt, then just type in "boot" and you should be back in business. If that doesn't work, get hold of your friendly UNIX system administrator ( like me ). Good luck and happy investing. SUNW up over 1 today, maybe we'll soon be above my buy price again!
