I heard some talking heads say that there will be some global positive effect , but probably not for the US. Japan will have to rebuild, and that will stimulate the neighboring economies, just like the last Tsunami did for the far east.

They did not predict any lasting negative effects.

They did not mention what would happen if there was a meltdown, or two. That (IMO) could be catastrophic to the economy of Japan.
