Rouilleault brings with him 20 years experience in the telecommunication industry, as well as a record of strong leadership in managing global business growth within this dynamic marketplace. Rouilleault joins Lucent from the telecommunications division of Companie des Signaux, where he was executive vice president. With 70 percent of its market growth opportunities outside the US, Lucent is working to better position itself for that opportunity. Lucent recently named Ben Verwaayen chief operating officer responsible for the company's international businesses. Rouilleault will support the domestic and international business needs of telecommunications service providers in France, a key market for Lucent. In this new role, Rouilleault will be responsible for Lucent's marketing, sales and services for France's network customers. He will report to Eric Van Amerongen, president and CEO of Lucent's Europe, Middle-East and Africa (EMEA) region. "Michel's extensive experience in France's telecom industry is an invaluable asset " said Joe Colson, Lucent's president of international regions. He has worked with both Alcatel and France Telecom in building, leading and managing their global businesses in a rapidly changing industry. Michel Rouilleault brings with him 12 years' experience with Alcatel, and five years with France Telecom. At Alcatel, Rouilleault held several management positions in the area of transmission and was most recently vice president of the Private Mobile Radio division on a world-wide basis. Prior to joining Lucent, Rouilleault was executive vice president for the Telecom Division of Compagnie des Signaux. "I'm looking forward to joining Lucent Technologies and serving our expanding French customers with a truly global offering, supported by our most prestigious research engine, Bell Labs" said Rouilleault. >>> I still don't know Lucent's ADSL plans and would expect something out of them eventually. I can't imagine them letting Alcatel take over the market without some attempt to defend their turf. I'll check out Alcatel at Comdex and see what I can find out about deployment, chips, take-rates and so on. Later -- Pat
