All that safety stuff doesn't do shit if a huge crack opens up and the nuclear facility falls into it, or the earthquake tears it apart.

The nuclear reacotor in San Louis Obispo sits right on top of one of the largest earthquake faults in the world. Right on top of it.

So we are not being even remotely smart. Clever, with all the backup systems, but not smart.
