I have my doubts about conservatives sticking together as well. They have a tendency to attempt appeal to liberals or push away all who aren't conservative enough. Either way is weakens the base and is unattractive to a majority of voters.

If they don't get behind ONE candidate and support him/her they will surely fail. Democrats could care less what the candidates say as long as THEY win. That is always difficult to tackle. Logic isn't necessary on the Democrat side just as ethics aren't. Republicans tend to allow Democrats to name the issues. Republicans may run on a fool hardy antiabortion plank. Sure no or fewer abortions are great, but how in the hell did that ever become an issue for presidential elections? Republicans if confronted with that tactic should hold firm with a stance against late term abortions and declare the rest a matter of private deliberation of the individuals involved.

What country in history would have been upset with their enemies aborting their own babies? If conservatives don't want abortions they won't have them. I democrats want to have abortions, I wouldn't mind paying for them.
