went from lava to complete cells What does went from lava mean? Those lifeforms 3.8B ya were complete cells. You probably mean cells showed up soon after the environment stopped being lavalike or something.

What intrigues me about this is that it suggests that life (if it didn't arrive ready-made from elsewhere) went from lava to complete cells in a few hundred million years.
