While "detected or characterized" may be true or untrue, depending on definition, if you use the principle of "immanence" it all makes more sense.

theres an old Zen saying

'If you see the Buddha..
on the road..Kill him'

this is taken to mean..

The Awakened State..
is not ..

out there..

Its an Experience...

I chose "detected, characterized" with some care. Something that can't be d/c cannot be meaningfully discussed. It connects to what I said to Brumar. An internal experience that is so personal that it defies constraint into informatively descriptive terms is ultimately uninteresting imo.
