Gap open due to effect of Japanese disaster accelerating due to potential fallout from damaged nuclear reactors. The indices filled the gap before the close. Todays gap open is less important to the trend of the recent sell off as the reaction tomorrow. The bounce has to take the indices back above the 50 day SMAs and the indices have to contine to rally for three days in a row. Otherwise traders will take the opportunity to re-short on the bounce.

Some index stocks like INTC have broken their 200 SMAs today so if they confirm the break they will continue down. Some of the strong cult stocks like AAPL are still in uptrends.

SPY

QQQQ

DIA

GLD : stil in up tredn
