Odd because your metro area seems like a great fit for streetcars in every way. Hah you can even link 'streetcars' with ferries

Seattle and the state tend to be fiscally conservative. Funding propositions get defeated if not regularly...enough. In addition the city spent an inordinate amount of time trying to build a monorail from West Seattle to Downtown. A total joke that was pushed by people who didn't know what they were talking about. After wasting millions, the plug got pulled about 5 years ago. A lot of time was lost. And of course, now, like everywhere else......revenues from taxes destined for mass transit have dropped preciptiously and start dates for projects are having to be pushed out. Very frustrating.
