In a worst case, the fuel pellets could also burn through the bottom of the containment vessel and radioactive material could pour out that way — often referred to as a full meltdown.

The odds of that are VERY SLIM. The control rods are fully inserted in all the reactors that "SCRAMMED" and the heat that is remaining is residual heat from short-term radioactive decay from isotopes.

I also just hear that at 3MI, which experienced a full meltdown, only 5/8th of an inch of the 5 inch steel primary containment vessel was melted.

But this is going to be a hell of a mess to clean up.. and will take years.

But no one has died due to any of the nuke reactors that were damaged..

But over 10,000 people died due to that Quake and Tsunami, and the damage is in the hundreds of Billions.

What's happening with the nukes is peanuts in comparison to what has ALREADY happened.
